About You
We’re looking for a Red-Seal Carpenter who:
- Has a strong track record in residential carpentry and construction, with experience in framing, finishing, and other carpentry tasks.
- Demonstrates expertise in blueprint reading, material selection, and site management.
- Has a keen attention to detail and is committed to delivering top-quality craftsmanship.
- Is committed to maintaining high standards of safety and client satisfaction.
- Thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Has excellent communication skills to coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues.
- Understands the BC Energy Step Code and High-Performance home building and building science.
Roles & Responsibilities:
As a Red-Seal Carpenter this position will engage all aspects of your carpentry tool belt. From foundations, to framing to finishing, you’ll be working with a team that cares as much about craftsmanship as you do. You’ll have freedom to apply your skills independently.
In your role with thinkBright, you will work with our team to:
- construct new
- implement Deep Energy Retrofits including replacement of windows and doors, over-insulation, and air-sealing.
- be part of a company-wide team approach to construction.
The Essential Qualifications:
This position requires, at minimum, that you are a red-seal carpenter with 5 or more years of residential construction work experience as a carpenter.
If you also happen to have building science, green building, and/or energy efficiency expertise, that makes you an extra-great fit for this position!
- You have a proven ability to manage and complete carpentry tasks with precision and attention to detail.
- You have strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and building codes.
- You may have education and/or experience in energy efficient construction and/or building science.
- You can read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- you have excellent communication and organizational skills.
- You are capable of and have experience with all aspects of residential construction from foundations to finishing. In short, you can build a house!
- You have the ability to communicate via email and/or cell text during regular working hours.
- You have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- You are physically capable of the regular duties of construction.

This is a full-time position +/-40 hours/week.

What You’ll Achieve
In the First 30 Days:
- Immerse yourself in current projects, systems, and team culture.
- Build relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Review project plans, timelines, and carpentry-related deliverables.
- Begin working alongside the team to complete initial tasks and contribute to overall site success.
In the First 60 Days:
- Take ownership of carpentry tasks under the guidance of the Project Manager.
- Demonstrate your skills in framing, finishing, and carpentry installations.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure tasks are completed on time and to the highest quality standards.
- Contribute to ensuring the team adheres to safety standards and efficient job site practices.
In the First 90 Days:
- Become a key team member, performing carpentry tasks with minimal supervision.
- Exhibit a high standard of quality, safety, and professionalism in all tasks.
- Take the lead on certain carpentry responsibilities, such as framing, installing, or finishing elements of the project.
- Successfully complete a 90-day performance review, identifying areas for growth and future development.
In the First 180 Days:
- Deliver consistent, high-quality carpentry work.
- Contribute to the overall success of the project by meeting deadlines and staying within budget.
- Build a trusted reputation among clients and subcontractors for reliability, craftsmanship, and professionalism.
