FAQ

Find answers to common questions about thinkBright Homes.

How is thinkBright different from other homebuilders?

At thinkBright, we are not just building a home, we are building a House-as-a-System, starting from the ground up. Our Integrated Design Process allows us to deliver superior energy efficiency and comfort without added costs because we design for it from the very first conversation we have with you.

We apply rigorous building science in each project. This means that the building envelope, the mechanical system, and your use of the home are all planned to work together to ensure consistently fresh air, stable indoor temperature, abundant natural light, and just plain old awesome comfort! This means your home will last longer (like, generations longer) cost less to live in (a lot less), and be more comfortable (how do we describe this? – you just have to experience it), even as a changing climate drives more weather extremes. Oh, and we haven’t even talked about climate and future resilience yet…

Every thinkBright home is built with:

  • Wildfire smarts in the cladding, ventilation, and plumbing systems
  • Low carbon materials
  • Wind resilient construction
  • Solar and EV ready connections
  • Ultra-low carbon energy systems

You don’t have to just “trust us” – Every project we undertake is independently audited by a 3rd party Energy Advisor. For our clients this means you’ll have our commitment to excellence, AND proof upon completion that we met the standards we set with you.

Our mechanical systems are designed to exacting industry standards, using data analysis that ensures thermal comfort year round, high indoor air quality, and lower energy bills. Our certifications demonstrate our commitment to excellence in new and renovation construction practices.

We sure do! But we call them Retrofits – this means a renovation that also improves the energy efficiency and comfort of your home.

Our skilled finishing crew does beautiful work but the beauty and quality of our renovations is more than skin deep. Whatever your renovation plans, if they include an expansion, new exterior walls, windows or doors, insulation, and/or heating/cooling/ventilation, we’re your best choice for renovator.

We are a registered CHBA RenoMark Contractor, a Rebate Eligible Contractor, and are also a Retrofit Assist Registered Contractor.

*We don’t do stand-alone bathroom and kitchen renovations.

Yes, there are ever-evolving rebates, credits, and incentives in BC and Canada for:

  • making energy-efficient home improvements,
  • adding a secondary suite, or
  • creating and age-in place suite.

Contact us so we can help you understand and navigate the programs that are available for your project.

That is a very good question and almost impossible to answer correctly or honestly without a good idea about the scope of the project.

What we can say for sure is that while thinkBright builds the highest quality homes and renovations, our costs are not above the market norm for our region.

By designing for excellence and energy efficiency from the very first conversation about a new project, we deliver quality without an extra punch in the pocket book.

Whether building new or upgrading your existing home, we know it’s expensive – our job is to help fit your dreams into your budget, and we take that very seriously, no matter if yours is a tight-budget starter home, or a luxury second home.
