Field House

About this home:

Merging beauty and performance, Field House was built for siblings with an inter-generational family vision. They challenged us to embody environmental values with elegant design, on a budget.

Designed by Architect Jillian Cochrane, Field House meets the highest tiers of the BC Energy and Zero Carbon Step Codes. Right-sized heat pumps and an integrated roof-top sprinkler ensure resilience to the impacts of extreme heat. A high-efficiency wood stove ensures comfort during winter power-outs.

The upper floor is a home unto itself, with two bedrooms, two full baths, and a spacious kitchen-dining-living area with a reading nook tucked into a quiet corner.

The ground floor has two more bedrooms, a full bath, and a separate living area – perfect for frequently visiting family.

Field House is a “proof of concept” example of how, through an Integrated Design Process, beautiful, high-performance homes can be attainable for families, while treading lightly on the planet.

Field House was honoured as a finalist in the prestigious 2025 Canadian Home Builders’ Association BC Georgie Awards (Custom Home Under $1,000,000).
