thinkBright owners Paul Denchuk and Meredith Hamstead are passionate about building homes and communities better, for people and for the planet.
Paul is a Civil Engineering Technologist (CET), and a Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter with over 2 decades experience as a builder. He is currently training to become a Certified Passive House Designer.
As the hands-on project lead for thinkBright Homes, Paul works with everyone from the excavators to the finishing carpenters. Paul applies his expertise and training to personally ensure that every thinkBright home meets our exacting performance and quality standards.
Meredith operates behind the scenes at thinkBright Homes applying two decades of environmental consulting experience to deliver rigorous project and financial management and client relations.
Meredith leads thinkBright’s customer service, from your first meeting with thinkBright to the hand over of your new front door keys.
For nearly two decades, Meredith Hamstead has led collaborative innovations with a diverse range of professionals to deliver field leading projects in:

- Green building
- Environmental communications & education
- Climate change adaptation & mitigation
- Sustainable land use
- Sustainable community development
- Strategic planning for local governments and boards of directors
Clients include local, regional and provincial governments, numerous non-profits, and the private sector.
Most recently she has led an innovative and successful 6-year water conservation initiative in simultaneous collaboration with 26 communities in the Columbia Basin region. She currently leads a 3-year climate change action program covering nearly 30 communities in SE BC.
Meredith has worked with nearly every community in the Columbia Basin Region which has built her strong passion for water and place.
Meredith is a certified Environmental Professional (EP) and specializes in Environmental Communications and Public Awareness, and Environmental Policy and Legislation.
Through the diversity of Meredith’s career experience, she has developed a unique skill set that allows her to effectively “translate” complex technical information and data into meaningful, solutions-oriented language that results in positive sustainability outcomes.
Meredith has worked, played, and loved life in the East Kootenay for nearly 20 years. With passion for a bright future, she has dedicated her career to the pursuit of sustainability solutions that meet that needs of the small but rapidly changing communities and organizations in our Region.
The Industry Training Authority (ITA) leads and coordinates British Columbia’s skilled trades system. thinkBright takes part in the apprenticeship program through ITA.
